Winds of Change

Hubby and I have a phrase I’m sure many of you have as well. It’s when the frenzy of activity dies down and you have a moment to breathe. You sit and look at one another and say “Change is Coming.” It wasn’t any one thing specifically, more of that deep down gut feeling that things just won’t quite be the way they were before. Ironically enough, we don’t sit and stress, no anxiety, instead, we pray.

Things are definitely changing aren’t they. Even me, who hardly ever watches TV or reads a newspaper can see it. Well not even see it, but I can feel it. One advantage to not watching the news is that I’m not influenced by outside opinions. I won’t stop loving folks just because others think I should. Though it has in fact become quite clear that they feel a certain way about me even though nothing has changed.

So if old friends and family from up North think my opinion doesn’t count because I live in the country; or I no longer count as a woman of Color because my husband is White, do they realize how they sound? I don’t think Jesus cares. Matter of fact, I’m pretty sure He doesn’t. Sad is that I think they silently wait and watch until they finally have the opportunity to say “I told you so” or some other inane, pre-school retort that is supposed to bring me down to earth. Just pray for them. I do, daily. I pray for their prosperity, for them to have love, for them to feel appreciated and successful. Because honestly, I don’t have time to hate.

If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he hates his brother or sister, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 1 John 4:20
