One Storm at a Time

I am one of those people that was blessed with having very traumatic experiences when I was young. “How can that possibly be a blessing!!” you may ask? Well, the truth is it has enabled me with the ability to be able to deal with the adversity I faced going into adulthood and of course within the last 20 years. (One Story at a time). 

I’d like to start at the beginning, but the truth is, every story has its own time as to when it should be told. I wish I could say I’m really open with sharing all of my life experiences but I’m not. Fact is I only reveal them to bring comfort to someone who is going through something similar. It is a chance for me to share that moment. To let them know they are not alone. Not to be like “Well if you think that story is bad, you should hear what happened to me!” Sigh….

That is not comfort. That is taking someone’s pain and belittling it. Some folks will say the most inconsiderate things not with the intention of being mean, but because they really don’t know what to say to comfort you. I have so many examples of this and I think that’s why it's easy for me to just sit and listen. But at the same time if what is causing you pain is some bad decisions you have made, be ready to answer some tough questions from me. Spoken in love of course and those closest to me will sometimes keep these kinds of things from me with the mistaken belief that I am judging them. Not so. 

What I am offering is a safe place for you to explore why things happened the way they did. Why your feelings may be justified, overexaggerated or need a good check on perspective. As simplistic as it sounds, sometimes there is only one place to take these kinds of burdens. 

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22
