That Mournful Breeze

Had to head back to Psalm 23 this week again. I find it hard to listen to news sometimes because they speak of people dying as if they were just numbers. The way you would count how many M&M’s came in a pack. But they aren’t just numbers are they?

In the last week I have been notified of people passing. A church member (a Bible Study Buddy), a friend's Mom,  a friend’s Aunt, a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great grandma wrapped up in one beautiful smile. They were not just numbers. Not to me nor to their family members. Of the above mentioned the one that hit me the hardest was Carl, my Church friend.

He lasted only a few hours after being brought home from Hospice and the Pastor said he was asking everyone what they wanted him to tell their loved ones when he got to Heaven. Even then, it was not himself he thought of, but others.

As Christians, we spend a lot of time studying our Bibles and standing on the promises that through our Faith in Christ we will be with Him and our loved ones when we pass. We do not grieve as those who have no hope - 1 Thess 4:13-18.

Individually this would be a really hard thing to believe. But when you’re in a room filled with like minded Christians, your faith is bolstered, maybe even restored.

We all have a 100% chance of dying. Wouldn’t you like to know that when you do, You’ll be with Jesus and all your friends and family again? Believe that Christ is your Savior and you will be. And I’ll make sure to let Carl know that you’re on your way. Make it a great day, every day, in Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
